365 DAYS Netflix Poster

365 days [or 365 DNI as it’s known in its native language] is an erotic thriller on Netflix where a Polish woman falls victim to a dominant Italian mafia boss, who imprisons her and gives her one year to fall in love with him. The movie stars Anna-Maria Sieklucka, and Michele Morrone, amongst others. Watch the trailer here.

After reading all the terrible reviews, I decided to see for myself what all the hype was about. There are a few things wrong with this movie.

The Plot

First of all, it’s a terrible plot! The story needs a whole lot of work. It just didn’t add up. A few scenes could have been developed better or left out altogether. For example, what was the point of Laura having a heart problem? How was that valid? What was the point of watching Massimo’s father die because he wouldn’t traffic children? What was the connection there?

What about the tacky line Massimo kept repeating? “Are you lost, baby girl?”, ughhh don’t get me started!

Then Massimo ends up kidnapping Laura and forcing her to fall for him. His arrogance was way too forced to be good acting. Every scene was cringe-worthy!

They tried to force this weak story on us, but didn’t even give us a happy ending.

Themes

In a world where we are constantly fighting for women’s rights, and consent — this movie is not the one! The movie glorifies kidnapping, sexual harassment, toxic masculinity, abuse, and Stockholm’s syndrome.

There’s also the privilege — because you have money you think you can kidnap a girl, move her to a new country and expect her to fall in love with you — BY FORCE. It obviously worked because Laura falls in love with Massimo after two months. Was it his body? his forceful nature? his money and all that came with it? the great sex? It doesn’t add up!

365 DNI Movie Clipping

P.S. I still don’t understand why women’s bodies are shown on television and the man’s isn’t? Where’s the logic? I’m sick and tired of movies always using women as mere objects of entertainment or baseless pleasure!

In conclusion — the film was pointless!
